Great news! I've really been looking forward to this
for a long time. I hope mine's on its way.

John,

Sounds like quite a package! Are you going to be making any more
imagers? I guess I missed out on preordering in the first wave...

Matt

P.S. On a related note, did Kevin Horton ever release the schematic for
his shutter glasses adapter? I have sent him a couple of emails about
buying one with no response so far. I certainly wouldn't mind making
one, if that's what I have to do.

P.P.S. On a somewhat unrelated note, I have to brag about some good
fortune. On Saturday I purchased my second Vec. I found it "in the
wild", in a pawnshop in Peru, Indiana, of all places. In about 15
years and literally hundreds, if not thousands, of visits to thrift
shops, garage sales, and pawn shops, this was only the second time I
had seen so much as a cart. It was collecting dust on top of a shelf
and the guy said that I was the first person to even ask about it in
over five years. Got the working console, controller, and Scramble
cart for $50. Not a steal, but a pretty good deal nonetheless. I must
be doing something right. Wink

I heard back from Kevin Horton, and he says that he still has around 50
shutter glasses adapters and 18 pairs of glasses. He sold me an
adapter and glasses for $35, shipping included (this is within the US,
of course). Maybe you could just get the adapter if you already have
glasses, although I didn't ask. I won't post his email here, but you
can easily google it...

You mean they still run this thing now that Lance has retired? Wink

Only informally, now. Don't worry, they are well on their way to their
actual goal, which is to destroy the legavy of Lance Armstrong the
filthy American by any means necessary. Even if it does mean
destroying the Tour De France itself in the process.

Hurrah! My 3-D goggles came in on Friday.

I ordered 2 sets of goggles and VecVoxxes. I tested both goggles
and my "cart" and VecVox (to a degree). My female friend will have to
test out her set herself. Smile

Yup. The cart was just a board with 4 jumpers on it.

> - manual

2 sheets of paper.

One of the 3 games I tested with the goggles. I had to wiggle the
multi-pin connector on the goggles' cable so that it would make good
contact with the pins in port 2 of my Vectrex. After the initial
wiggle, the goggles would power up fine. The goggles adjusted to my
head easily. The electronics on the goggle are in the open but are
neatly placed and won't be damaged in normal use.
Because of my vision (astigmatism), the effects of 3-D are always
variable. 3D Minestorm was o.k., with not too much "doubling" of the
images due to my vision. I still have to get used to shooting/not
shooting the objects that are not on the same plane. Smile

> crazy coaster

Ah, there were problems with Crazy Coaster. I could never get a
true 3-D image of the coaster -- severe doubling of the coaster.
However, I chalk that up to my vision. Smile More serious was that the
game would run for awhile, but then I'd lose picture (screen went
black), and the goggles would spin down. However, the sound would
continue! I would have to reset the Vectrex or power it off/on. The
same symptoms would occur again if I played the game.

> narrow escape 3d

The best of the 3-D bunch for me! Images blended well into 3-D,
and I was merrily shooting away (well, as well as I could against those
3-D enemies).
I haven't tried the other games yet, and I haven't put the VecVox
through its paces yet, though it does power up with the sound,
"VecVox". I did use its pass-through to try out the light-pen that was
included. Yes, it is a light "pen" -- an ordinary Papermate pen with
its guts taken out and replaced with the receiving LED and wires. It
worked well with the Art Master program.

Nice to get the multi-cart,
Robert Bernardo
