HDMI cable for XBOX 360??? - Is there an HDMI cable for the XBOX 360? Any on the horizon? It would makes sense for an HDMI cable but would it even be possible? My regular DVD's are not to 720p or 1080i which I thought it was supposed to do. I've read that the 360 does..
HDMI 1.1 --> HDMI 1.3? - I believe the xbox 360 elite has HDMI 1.1. Will that work on an A/V receiver that has HDMI 1.3?
What's great about HDMI? - I'm going to buy an xbox 360 to play Halo 3 and I was wondering why people seem to think that HDMI is such a major feature?

secondly, even if HDMI were just a video cord, I'd still pick it first.
Why? Do you really need that answered or are you going to get all helmet
head if I tell ya. DVI: Pain in the ass to connect, to obtrusive, and
too many pins. HDMI is as simple as USB.You see, we're already at the
pinnacle of quality so its about design. On that note, its like
comparing a parallel and firewire cable; which would you rather deal with?
Look man, I know the deal. You bought a HDTV while it was still all
hype. Now you're stuck with a set that has interfaces that will sooner
than later be eclipsed. So you feel a compulsive need to stand up for

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about simplicity. The back of my entertainment
center (HDTV/STB/DVD/receiver/consoles/modem/router/etc) looks like a mad
scientist experiment with component cables, fiber, RCA, CAT5, speaker wire,
etc going in all different directions. Tie-wraps only go so far in keeping
everything "neat".
What I'm getting at (as others as well) is that most people want their video
going straight into their (HD)TV while the audio goes into whatever device
they use for DD/DTS encoding and speaker feeding. If you only use the
speakers built into your (HD)TV, then one simple HDMI connection for video
and sound is great -- but, otherwise, its not of much benefit.
Another thing with the audio in HDMI: you are aware that the majority of
devices that have HDMI out carry the audio as DD 2.0 and not DD 5.1?

I'm sure (and hopeful) newer recievers hitting the market very shortly
will remedy this shortfall. Certainly there is a demand for it. BTW, my
original post wasn't meant to shortchange your current solution. I
understand its the most feasible atm, but to me, I'm optimistic of
what's to come.

Yes, DVD-audio was released with the 1.1 spec I believe. Since HDMI was
originally incepted to support 8 channels and can support an incredible
amount of bandwidth, you'll certainly see more support in months to come
(right in time for my upgrade)!
Here's a snip from hdmi.org
......The fact that the vast majority of HDMI products shipped are
two-channel TVs that don’t support more than two-channel audio doesn’t
make this any less the case. Most existing HDMI sources can output any
compressed stream, and the newer sources can output uncompressed
6-channel, 96kHz audio from a DVD-Audio disk. There are several A/V
receivers on the market that can accept and process the 6- or 8-channel
audio from HDMI and more are expected to be available shortly.......
