Hi all,
I have a 1920x1200 24" wide Dell LCD. It is a very nice monitor. Is
there a way to get Myst V or even Uru to play in 1920x1200 wide screen
mode? 1600x1200 is very good but it would be much more cool to use the
whole screen. Yes, I could tell the monitor to stretch the 1600x1200 to
fit the whole screen but that distorts the view.
I'm pretty sure that the answer is "No" but it doesn't hurt to ask!
Thanks,

I use an hp L2335 23in widescreen monitor at 1920x1200. Myst V supports
that resolution. I run URU at 1600x1200. My monitor puts black bars on
either side of the picture and the image is not distorted (stretched) at
all. I tried having the monitor stretch URU, and it honestly didn't look
too bad, but I switched it back to the letterboxed format

K, I got 1920x1200 to work in Myst V. I had to uncheck "Recommended
Only". BTW, the Myst V Detetion Tool says my system is not compatable
because I have a Matrox Parhelia 128 video card. However, the 3D seems to
be rendered just fine and is quite smooth. The Parhelia is a decent 3D
gaming card but not for the true hard core 3D gamers which I am not one
of. IMO, it seems to perform OK Myst V eventhough I have yet to get out
of the first room. It worked great with URU and RealMYST.
Thanks!

Well, it is not OK. When I uncheck "Recommended only" for the
resolution bar, it seems that no video options are saved and it reverts
back to the default values when I quit and renter the Myst V. This looks
like a bug to me.
I need to set:
o Video quality" to a low value (get a lot of studdering and
repeating in the intro video)
o Set textures to max.
o Turn off dynamic reflections.
Anyone else seen losing settings problem? And the studdering/repeating
problem as well?
BTW, my sound card is a SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum running in gaming mode
while playing Myst V.
Thanks,

OK, the stuttering occurs while playing Atrus' intro. First, a process,
TivoToGo server, was messing up and taking all the CPU. Killed it. This
stopped the really, really bad stuttering. I was still getting some
stuttering. If I Alt-Tab out to another Windows and Alt-Tab back to Myst
V, all stuttering stops and the intro plays fine. Go figure.
So far, things are going OK. The 3D rendering is sufficient with the
Matrox Parhelia. The "helpers" are showing up fine and I have not
experienced any stuttering like in the intro. I have all video and audio
settings at max. And, I am using the Advanced Movement mode.
Thanks,
